Aoi Koga Joins Cast of Mono Anime as An Kiriyama
Exciting news for anime fans! Aoi Koga, known for her role in Kaguya-sama: Love is War, has been cast as the voice of An Kiriyama in the upcoming 2025 anime adaptation of Mono, the popular 4-panel manga by Afro, creator of Laid-Back Camp.
In a recent character promotional video, the production team revealed that Koga will bring to life An Kiriyama, a second-year high school student obsessed with her fellow student, Satsuki Amamiya. An’s love for Satsuki is so intense that she joins the school’s cinephoto club, a mix of cinema and photography, despite having no interest in either medium, just to stay close to her.

Cast and Crew Highlights
As previously announced, Haruna Mikawa is set to voice Satsuki Amamiya, An’s object of admiration. The Mono anime, directed by Ryota Aikei (Jujutsu Kaisen assistant director), will debut in 2025. Other notable staff members include Takuya Miyahara as the character designer and Yoko Yonaiyama (A Sign of Affection) as the scriptwriter. Aniplex is producing the anime, promising high-quality animation and storytelling.
About Mono Manga
Afro first introduced the Mono manga in Houbunsha’s Manga Time Kirara Carat in March 2017. The story centers around a high school photography and movie club (cinephoto club) and the unique personalities that fill it. Houbunsha released the fourth volume of the manga on April 25, 2024.
Afro’s Other Popular Work: Laid-Back Camp
Fans of Afro’s work may recognize him from his well-loved manga Laid-Back Camp (Yuru Camp), which was launched in 2015. The slice-of-life camping series gained a massive following, leading to multiple anime adaptations. The first season of the Laid-Back Camp anime aired in 2018, followed by a second season in 2021, and a third season (Yurukyan Season 3) that premiered in April 2024. A movie adaptation hit theaters in July 2022, with Crunchyroll streaming it later that year.
With such a stellar team behind Mono, fans of both Laid-Back Camp and new viewers alike have plenty to look forward to in this upcoming series.
